The snow covered mountains and ruined houses are far off, the new colourful school reconstructed after the April earthquake sits on a green lawn. Students, parents and teachers were all present at the inauguration of the new school and multimedia laboratory, made possible by contributions from Toshiba and Microsoft and the coordination of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. In fact, the students and grandparents will soon embark on the digital literacy course for elders, Grandparents on the Internet. Authorities present at the event included school administrator Nicola Menna, who is also the Mayor of Poggio Picenze.
 
“It’s a great pleasure to see you all here,” said Mayor Menna addressing the audience. “It’s a festive day and the children, our future, are the protagonists.”
 
In fact, children opened the event. Giulia,a fifth grade student, described here experience in the container classrooms where she and her classmates attended lessons all winter. “Tommorrow is a new day,” resounded in the song she sang with the other students.
 
Speakers included Romano Santoro, Coordinator of the “ICT for Abruzzi” Project on behalf of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Natasha Perfetti, Marketing and Communication Manager for Toshiba and Roberto Bellato, President of the Fondazione Stampa Specchio dei Tempi from Turin, who pointed out how the associations participated in this structural and didactic rebirth.
 
Alsp present at the event were the Association of Italians in Belgiu, the Mayor of Toro, Representatives of the Comune di Monte di Procida, Foca Group, the Carabinieri of Bariciano, Regional Councillor Antonio Del Corvo and Councillor Lattanzio from the Pescara Province.
