Tufello Innovation Gym Inaugurated

Thanks to our collaboration with Rai Cinema, an area is dedicated to viewing literature in VR

The new Innovation Gym in the Maria Montessori Comprehensive Institute was inaugurated yesterday in Rome, in the Tufello district (Municipio III). The initiative, part of Programme Smart & Heart Rome, promoted by the Smart & Heart Rome with the support of the Digital Transformation Department of Rome, has developed one of the seven Innovation Gyms envisaged by the project. The gyms allow students to shape their ideas through digital manufacturing and rapid prototyping, discovering the masterpieces of art and literature with engaging and immersive experiences, and bridging the digital divide with the intergenerational learning model. The project aims to reduce inequalities in the most problematic suburbs of Rome and address educational poverty.

The inauguration also served as an opportunity to experiment with our collaboration with Rai Cinema: an environment dedicated to virtual reality was set up inside the Gym, in which users can immerse themselves into the Divine Comedy with Quest 2 viewers, donated by Meta to make digital tools accessible to all communities.

Participants in the inaugural conference, moderated by Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, include:

Alessandro Cavallaro, Content Curator and Head of Innovative Teaching, ETT Spa Gruppo SCAI

Angela Gallo, School Administrator, IC Maria Montessori

Maria Gemelli, School Administrator, ITCG Carlo Matteucci

Paola Ilari, Vice President of Municipio III, Roma Capitale

Paolo Emilio Marchionne, President of Municipio III, Roma Capitale

Alfonso Molina, Personal Chair in Technology Strategy at the University of Edinburgh and Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale

Giovanni Organtini, Professor, Physics Department, Sapienza University of Rome

Carlo Rodomonti, Head of Strategic Marketing and Digital Assetts, Rai Cinema

During the day, the immersive experiences and digital manufacturing labs were also open to families and citizens, for an intergenerational learning model in line with the mission of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, which has been committed to spreading the culture of innovation without excluding or leaving anyone behind for over twenty years.
