The students who attend the basic computer courses promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale at the Centro Enea will have the opportunity on, November 14, to take part in a singular practical lesson. They will participate in a didactic laboratory on techniques to recycle old PCs.
The unusual lesson will be held at the Recycling Lab of the Itis Armellini (largo B.P. Riccardi 13), a leading school in the Don't throw me out ... there's mail for me at the Elderly Centre Campaign. The occasion is provided by the Unesco Week of Education for Sustainable Development. The itis Armellini is one of three schools in Rome opening up its Recycling Labs from 2:00 – 5:30 pm to show citizens how to reduce electronic waste, recycle old PCs and contribute to social and digital inclusion.
The Centro Enea is an experimental project implemented by the Municipality of Rome together with the Italian Ministry of the Interior. It is a second level reception structure, organised as a laboratory to assist all those individuals looking for a better future in Italy, but who often encounter marginalisation, hostility and exploitation.
The multi-functional Centro Enea hosts the Fondazione Mondo Digitale’s Internet Café and various levels of computer courses.
