The Carta di Credito Formativa project was one of the first activities implemented by Consorzio Gioventù Digitale to promote the digital literacy and the employment of young people

The Carta di Credito Formativa project was one of the first activities implemented by the Foundation when it was still in the form of Consorzio Gioventù Digitale for the promotion of the employment of young people through training.

The project was launched in 2002 through an agreement between the City of Rome’s Councilman for policies regarding Rome greater metropolitan area, local development and occupation, Luigi Nieri, and the Consortium’s President, Tullio De Mauro, in collaboration with Unionfidi Lazio and the Rome Banca di Credito Cooperativo to promote the digital literacy of the young.
The project envisioned the granting of loans at zero-interest for participation in training courses regarding the GCD’s new technologies and the purchase of more modern ICT instruments (hardware and software) to a maximum amount of € 3.500 destined to 150 young people between the ages of 18 and 29 in search of employment.

The credit was granted directly to the beneficiaries who submitted their applications after a careful screening phase. Orientation was also provided for the type of course to be selected depending on the level of ICT skills and concepts possessed by the candidate. After completing the training courses and obtaining final certification, an internship with a contract at one of the Consortium’s member companies was provided.
