Artificial intelligence and health

Potential for today's and tomorrow's professionals. With “The Future of Care”

An ageing population, chronic diseases and a shortage of qualified personnel are putting pressure on healthcare systems. There is growing collective anxiety about not being able to cope on our own: we need stronger networks, shared trust and new skills. In this scenario, artificial intelligence can offer concrete answers for efficiency, precision and quality of care, if governed with a critical eye and oriented towards the common good. But its adoption is still slow, hampered by technical, regulatory and cultural obstacles. The relationship between medicine and AI is reminiscent of Schopenhauer's ‘porcupine dilemma’: too close, we risk hurting each other; too far apart, we lose warmth and benefits. The event during which the project “The Future of Care” will be presented, close to National Healthcare Workers' Day, aims to explore this right distance and enhance the role of healthcare professionals towards predictive, equitable and person-centred healthcare.
