The project by Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft Italia, supported by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, aims to strengthen the digital skills of today’s and tomorrow’s healthcare professionals, with a specific focus on Artificial Intelligence. The initiative is part of J&J CareCommunity, Johnson & Johnson’s global social impact platform designed to promote equitable access to healthcare by supporting local healthcare professionals. The project is also part of Microsoft Elevate, a global programme that leverages Microsoft’s solutions, expertise, research and philanthropic investments with the aim of expanding access to new technologies, providing individuals and organisations with the training, tools and support needed to thrive in an AI-driven economy.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Healthcare professionals motivated to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, not only to understand its mechanisms, benefits and vulnerabilities, but also to contribute in an informed and critical manner to its ethical, equitable and inclusive application in the healthcare systems of the future.
CONTEXT
AI and advanced tools are still underutilised in clinical practice. According to a recent survey: 75% of specialist doctors say they are interested in digital technologies, but call for more training and support. The main obstacles are a lack of information, technical issues and resistance to change. AI and advanced tools are still underused in clinical practice (Data from Fo.N.Sa.D, the National Digital Health Forum, December 2025).
OBJECTIVES
To strengthen the digital skills of 50,000 healthcare professionals by developing three key competencies:
- Understanding how AI works (digital literacy)
- Critically evaluating its outputs (critical thinking)
- Integrating it into real-world workflows (operational competence)
Technology changes, but skills remain, become consolidated and enable us to seize new opportunities and generate value.

The project involves a hybrid training model supported by the FMD Academy, structured as follows:
- In-person and online training sessions
