In 2014, three Roman eighteen-year olds won the Robotics World Cup in João Pessoa, Brazil with their football robots. Davide Aloisi, Lorenzo Di Donato and Simone Petrangeli have recently graduated from the Rome Itis Galileo Galilei. As students, they won the RoboCup Junior Soccer Open Weight Secondary category to the great satisfaction of their coaches: Paolo Torda, Giampaolo Pucci and Beniamina Rauch.

The Soccer Open Weight Secondary category featured 24 teams from 15 countries (including 6 European countries), the best teams from schools around the world. The tree Roman students clinched the title with Mida and Gordio, two robots built in 2012, which have since been continuously modified and improved.

Today, Davide Aloisi is a Computer Engineering student at the Rome Sapienza University and is still passionate about robots. Now that he is too old to compete in the RomeCup and RoboCup competitions, Davide has decided to train the younger teams, sharing the experience he accrued as a software engineer on the international playing fields, as this was his role in the world champion team.

In this interview with Fiametta Castagnini at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, Davide recounts his participation in various editions of the RomeCup and his new experience as a tutor with the young programmers preparing for the tenth edition that will be held in Rome on March 16-18.
