Coding and High Heels

Irene Cannistraci, a first-year PhD student at the Rome Sapienza University Department of Computer Science, is also coach for the seventh edition of Coding Girls, along with her Professor Paola Velardi. Last Monday, Irene helped present the Coding Girls Programme to the Assembly of Women in ICT, answering questions posed by Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. Irene provides us with the idea of “coding and high heels” – to underline that technological subjects are wide open to women, too. Young women are free to bring and conserve all their style and creativity.

In the audio clip, besides Irene’s presentation, there are two other voices.

The first is Valentina Who, a fifteen-year-old student in her second year at the Istituto Schiapparelli Gramsci in Milan directed by Loredana Leoni. Together with her classmates and coordinated by Prof. Piera Anna Franini, Valentina is one of the protagonists of Project CO.ME - COde&FraME, promoted with ENI.

The second is Alessia Simonetti, 17, a fourth-year student at the Liceo Peano in Monterotondo, directed by Roberta Moncado. Alessia dreams about becoming an educator herself and receives precious guidance from Prof. Anna Rita Petrillo.
