A video created by a young filmmaker for a growing ecosystem
Today we are sharing a special video dedicated to DIGA – Sustainable Ecosystem for Training and Guidance, a project selected and supported by the Fund for the Digital Republic. This is not a glossy competition entry, but a living social narrative, capable of capturing the authenticity of a journey that is transforming the way young people view their future.
Behind the lens: Susanna’s perspective
The editing and narration are by Susanna Fortunato, a 26-year-old filmmaker who perfectly embodies the multidisciplinary spirit of the project. Raised in Bari and a graduate of a science-focused secondary school, Susanna has successfully combined the analytical approach of her secondary education with the creativity of RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts), where she graduated in film. She is a specialist in technical skills: she honed her craft in camera movement at the ARRI Academy in Munich, obtaining certification to use the Steadicam, a tool she favours for its expressive freedom and image-building capabilities. Today she works as a videomaker and first assistant cameraman (1st AC), bringing to sets a passion that ranges from analogue photography to 3D printing and IT.
The distinctive feature of this video lies in its production method: Susanna has skilfully woven together contributions recorded by others asynchronously, even using amateur equipment, transforming diverse fragments into a single collective voice. The result does not seek formal aesthetic perfection, but aims for freshness and immediacy, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the ‘open ecosystem’ that drives the project.
A reflection of the DIGA project
Just as Susanna has experimented with new forms of storytelling, the DIGA project is exploring an innovative learning ecosystem that connects schools, universities and the local community. The video documents this ‘bridge’ necessary to enhance STEM skills and raise awareness of digital opportunities among students in Rome, Turin, Milan and Padua.
The images and testimonies gathered highlight the pillars of the project:
- Educational innovation: a workshop-based approach where one “learns by doing”.
- Informed guidance: helping young people overcome their “fear” of science subjects.
- Local connections: the dialogue between the nine schools and the four partner universities.
Voices from the future
The video gives the floor to the participants themselves. For the students, DIGA is synonymous with ‘growth, creativity and innovation’. As highlighted in the narrative, the project aims not only to impart knowledge, but to stimulate the curiosity needed to interpret the transformations in the labour market and society. Susanna’s story is, we hope, the first in a long series of accounts that will continue to demonstrate how technology and education can become tools for inclusion and youth empowerment. Through this experience, Susanna herself has also found a new curiosity and an unprecedented focus on social storytelling, discovering how her solid technical expertise can serve as a tool to narrate the real impact of innovation on people and communities.

The Fund for the Digital Republic is a partnership between the public sector and the social sector (the Government and the Association of Foundations and Savings Banks – Acri), which operates within the framework of the digitalisation objectives set out in the PNRR and the PNC and is funded by contributions from banking foundations, which are granted a tax credit.
The Fund selects and supports digital training and inclusion projects for various population groups, such as NEETs, women, the unemployed and those never in employment, workers at risk of unemployment due to automation, employees, collaborators and volunteers of social economy organisations, pupils and students in lower and upper secondary schools, and prisoners. The aim is to assess the impact of the supported training projects and replicate those deemed most effective on a larger scale, so as to provide best practices to the Government for use in shaping future national policies.
