A journey into artificial intelligence across ten Italian universities
A journey into artificial intelligence across ten Italian universities, with the aim of opening up the debate on the future and the role that AI will play in society. This is the new project from Corriere della Sera, created by Riccardo Luna, journalist and columnist, who is responsible for its scientific and editorial direction.
The Disclaimer Campus Tour will kick off on 17 September at the University of Siena and will continue until December, visiting Bari, Naples, Padua, Turin, Florence, Venice, Rome, Palermo and Milan.
During the ten events, artificial intelligence will be explored from multiple perspectives: health, economics, language, creativity, spirituality, information, sport and fashion. Meetings, lectures, debate panels, barcamps with start-ups and workshops will offer students and civil society unique opportunities to engage with Italian and international academics, researchers, entrepreneurs and experts.
The tour is supported by the Cineca consortium, a scientific partner which, with its supercomputing infrastructure and the guidance of the Italian AI Factory, supports research and technology transfer to businesses. 'In addition to infrastructure, we need widespread knowledge and public awareness. This is why we are particularly happy to collaborate on this series of meetings in universities with Italy's leading daily newspaper," commented Cineca's president and general manager, Francesco Ubertini and Alessandra Poggiani.
The Fondazione Mondo Digitale is participating in this initiative as a partner for training and social innovation, with the aim of involving students and young people in concrete experiences of AI education. The Foundation will help to make the tour an opportunity for collective growth, promoting digital skills, creativity and civic responsibility.
Alongside the main events, there will be special initiatives such as the University of Siena Challenge, which brings together different disciplines to promote research and innovation applied to bioinformatics and life sciences.
‘Are we facing the greatest innovation in human history that will allow us to unleash our full potential, or an imminent danger that will enslave us? What if the correct answers are both? We are at a crossroads and we cannot afford to make a mistake,’ emphasises Riccardo Luna.
All the meetings will be reported on Corriere.it and social media channels and turned into a podcast to make the content accessible on demand.
