After the successful event in January Altaroma with the “Fashion Digital Night” at the “Prati Bus District” on July 4-7, 2019. T to accelerate the digital transformation of the fashion sector and develop new skills and professional profiles for the coming generations. Geometric shapes are adapted to our bodies thanks to incisions created with a laser cutter. Prestigious textiles are integrated with sensors that allow the clothing to become digital objects with microchips and memory cards. Optic fibre is used as lace to decorate haute couture creations and a special Japanese kimono measures air pollution and keeps insects away with ultrasounds.

 

On July 6 (9 pm), the Prati Bus District will host an intelligent and sustainable fashion show.  Eight models will wear clothing and accessories produced by young designers with laser cutters, 3D printers and smart devices. In Room 1, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has organised a “Fashion Hub” to showcase over 20 wearable technologydigital fabrication and bio material projects, where makes and designers will be available to discuss the technology behind the clothes. In the evening, there will be a media art performance by the Spacetik Collective. Sounds and lights will attack materials to present the original connections between fashion and technology.

 

“Technological innovation is transforming the fashion sector that will need 47,000 technicians in the coming years. This initiative aims not only to promote the talent and creativity of the new generations, but also to reflect on the need to train professional profiles that will meet the requirements set by new challenges, so to keep driving our international competitiveness as well as that of the young generations,” explains Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.  

 

The initiative is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with AltaRomaFabLab InnovationgymAccademia Belle Arti di NapoliFabLab Frosinone, Fabricademy and Arte Vetrina Roma.

 

To select innovative projects in the field of wearable technology, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has launched the second edition of the Digital Made for Young Fashion Talents Contests. Selected clothes and accessories will be showcased at the next “Fashion Digital Night” at Altaroma in January 2020.
