Generative AI for Business

Creathon at the Milan Microsoft House

How can generative AI help businesses innovate and become more competitive? What are the opportunities and tools available today?

With a joint initiative together with the Punto Impresa Digitale of the Chamber of Commerce in Milan Monza Brianza Lodi (PID) and Microsoft Italia, on Wednesday, November 15, we organized the RI-Generarsi event at the Microsoft House in Milan, a day of reflection and discussion on the applications of generative artificial intelligence to increase the turnover of companies, increasing innovation and competitiveness.

With the coordination of Lorenzo Pisoni, Director, Punto Impresa Digitale, the discussion involved Andrea Condorelli (Cloud Solution Architect - Data & AI, Microsoft Italia), Cinzia Diana (Event Manager, Fondazione Mondo Digitale), Sergio Rossi (Deputy General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan Monza Brianza Lodi), Antonio Romeo (Director, Dintec). The training session was organised by Mattia De Rosa (Solution Specialists Data & AI Director, Microsoft Italy) and Valentina Alto (Solution Specialists Data & AI, Microsoft Italy).

The training session was followed by a creathon, a creative challenge in which participants were involved in identifying concrete solutions to business challenges, applying generative AI tools and enhancing the potential offered by this technology to promote their brand and expand their business.

"We are thrilled to support such an innovative initiative for small and medium-sized local businesses. This first experimentation on AI with Microsoft technology, among the most advanced on the market, represents the concrete commitment of the Digital Enterprise Point of the Chamber of Commerce in Milan Monza Brianza and Lodi to introduce local businesses to the digital revolution. In view of the great response from users, we will work to propose the format again, also on other technological topics," commented Sergio Rossi, Deputy General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan Monza Brianza Lodi.

Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, stated: "The synergy that led to the Ri-Generarsi event arises from the commitment of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to promote the growth of people through the development and reinforcement of digital skills. Today, more than ever, they are key to fully enjoying the opportunities provided by the digitalization of businesses. The great technological acceleration of generative AI, in particular, represents an opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses to innovate and grow on a market that is becoming increasingly competitive and dynamic. Experimenting with the energy of these events, it will be interesting to replicate the experience."

“Eighteen percent of businesses use one or more forms of AI-based technology, but only 5% of these are micro, small, or medium-sized enterprise. Chamber of Commerce PIDs have identified this through local assessments of the digital maturity of companies. Despite the delays in technological adoption, the investments in AI recorded in our country are still very limited," explains Antonio Romeo, Director of Dintec. “To reduce this gap, the PID network intends to invest increasingly more, over the next few years, in AI to encourage practical applications on small and medium-sized enterprises and contribute to increasing their productivity.”

The initiative, implemented as part of the Ital-IA Lab Project, is part of the services that the PID (Digital Enterprise Point of the Chamber of Commerce in Milan Monza Brianza Lodi) is organising to bring companies ever closer to new digital technology and preparing them to face a future of industrial innovation increasingly oriented towards intelligent management of resources and process sustainability, in coherence with the new paradigm of sustainable development of Industry 5.0.
