The 8th edition of the Global Junior Challenge will also include cinema thanks to an independent cinematography project entitled indiefilmchannel.tv, an on-demand video portal dedicated to independent movies.
Gilda Ciccone, Project Coordinator, explains how the idea for this alternative distribution channel was conceived and how the platform will serve both directors and emerging independent producers to promote original works to indie cinema lovers and professionals.
The project has been developed by Romefilmmarket.com Srls (RFM), a digital start-up founded in October 2015 by three independent movie professionals with the support of the Regione Lazio.
From January to November 2016, RFM concentrated its efforts on the developing and testing the platform technology (movie encoding, subtitles, translation of related information, payments, etc.) and the population of its catalogue via scouting at the main European cinema markets (MIPCOM, Berlinale, Cannes, etc.).
Moreover, Gilda and the IndieFilmChannel Team participated in the “Hackreativity” organised by the Media Art Festival (April 2017), organised and promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with Lazio Creativo.
