How Do We Learn

How do we learn to play an instrument? Ride a bike? Hit a ball with precision in football, tennis or volleyball? Why do elders forget names and facts?

Young men and women aged 13-19 will be able to learn about the secrets of the brain by participating in the Neuroscience Olympics. The registration deadline has been postponed to January 31, 2017.

The Neuroscience Olympics are the local and national phases of the International Brain Bee, an international competition for high school students (aged 13-19) to assess their knowledge of neuroscience. The competition addresses intelligence, memory, emotions, stress, ageing, sleep and nervous system diseases, amongst other topics.

The main objective of the competition, promoted by the Italian Society of Neuroscience, is to promote interest in biology and the study of the structure and operation of the human brain, our most complex organ.

Phase 2 – regional (Feb. 18, 2017) – the competition will take place in Rome to select the 3 best students from each region.

Phase 3 – national (May 5-6, 2017) – the competition will take place in Catania, where the winner will receive a scholarship to represent Itlay at the International Competition that will be held in Washington DC (USA) on August 3-6, 2017 during the Conference of the American Psychological Association.
