A free summer camp in Turin to encourage schoolgirls to take an interest in science

From 22 June to 3 July, StemDays returns to Turin – the free summer camp organised by the Human+ Foundation to introduce girls to science and technology and to build their confidence, independence and ability to shape their future.

The camp is aimed at 36 female students in their third and fourth years of secondary school in the Metropolitan City of Turin. For nine days, from Monday to Friday, participants will work in person at the Toolbox Coworking space, at Via Agostino da Montefeltro 2, alongside experts in IT, engineering, psychology and coaching.

The experience combines practical training, career guidance, group work and project work. The girls learn by doing, experiment with different technologies, challenge gender stereotypes and prejudices, and develop skills useful for school, work and active participation: collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, communication and the ability to present a project.

Once again this year, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale is contributing to the programme with Miss Robot, one of the camp’s technology-based project works: a workshop in which the students build a robotic arm using 3D printing and put it into action. A hands-on and engaging programme that introduces participants to educational robotics through design, prototyping and teamwork.

Alongside Miss Robot, the programme offers other project-based activities dedicated to artificial intelligence applications, automation with Arduino and video game development. All the courses are designed to offer the girls a safe and stimulating environment, where they can experiment without fear of making mistakes and discover new educational and professional opportunities.

StemDays is recognised as a School-to-Work Training Programme.
