Service Skills

The School of Internet for Everyone, the greatest on-line educational drive for individuals who wish to learn more about digital tools to improve everyday lives, continues to network. Thanks to the precious support of local coordinators, we are generating communities, bringing together associations and organisations that work for the general interest to improve human capital.

Last week, we spoke about alliances with local agencies [see news: School in Common], while, today, we will explore the. Role of two very different organisations, a professional one and a service organisation: the National Archaeological Association and La via del fare. The two associations have reserved some of the courses starting this week.

“I am happy to present this initiative dedicated to Italian archaeologists with a view to a digital renaissance that will allow all participants to employ their new skills and knowledge in their profession.” Alessandro Garrisi, President of the National Archaeological Association, underlines the enabling role that technology provides, even to highly specialised professions. “Archaeology is in its infancy in terms of legislation, although its focus is on the ancient. Over time, we have experienced an exponential increase in the digital skills that are necessary to excel in a wide range of professions.  We hope that this important national initiative will interest everyone and bring benefits to their professional categories and archaeology, in general.”

“I am very happy to be a small, yet concrete part of this positive signal for our recovery, after a very hard period. Increasing our digital skills will allow us to overcome social differences amongst those using these tools and those who are still unaware of their potential,” explains Daniela Cioccolo, President of the La via del fare Association. "Following our proposal for a digital class, we received many requests for information. People did not believe we would really hold a free, quality course. So, we answered their questions and published details of the course both on our website and on local media. In the end, this free opportunity has become very popular and our friends and members at #laviadelfare are participating enthusiastically.

In this week’s virtual classrooms, there will be a greater balance between women (58.27) and men (41.73) over previous courses that saw a much greater participation of women. Most participants have a high school diploma (49%), a university degree (33%) or a middle school certificate (18%). Over 40% are over 65 years old, while the 55-56 category represents 20.47% and the 45-54 category 17.72%. Over 20% are independently employed, either as professionals or entrepreneurs, while 28.5% are public and private employees. And, as the age of the majority suggests, over 38% are retired, while 9% are actively seeking employment.

Public and private organisations that wish to enrol their employees in courses should write to ord@mondodigitale.org or contact their regional coordinators.

The project is promoted by TIM in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of programme Operation Digital Risorgimento.
