The American Embassy, the European Space Agency Americana and Sapienza University of Rome have organized the second Italian edition of Space Apps Challenge (April 12-13). Twenty cities from around the world will participate in the hackathon launched by Nasa that attracted over 9000 participants for the first edition. The Hackathon will take place at the Sapienza Faculty Aerospace Engineering (via Eudossiana 18).
 
The Fondazione Mondo Digitale is a project partner. In particular, Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy at the University of Edinburgh and Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, will be on the jury that will assign awards to the best local solutions. Two ideas will be forwarded to Nasa for the global competition looking for new solutions in five areas: Robotics, Asteroids, Technology in Space, Earth Watch and Human Space Flight.

Participation is free and open to everyone: developers, designers, engineers, all students and science and technology enthusiasts. Everuyone can help solve these challenges with his or her ideas.
 
The event will kick off on Friday afternoon with a press conference at the Faculty of Engineering and will end on Sunday with the announcement of the two ideas that will be forwarded to Nasa for the global competition
 
Each participant must register and choose one challenge on which to work from those proposed at https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/challenge/ and participate in an already formed team or form one on the day. The working language will be English; so, at least one team member must have a good knowledge of the language.
