RomeCup 2026 in Corriere della Sera

Innovation also takes root in the classroom. This is the message of an article published yesterday in the *Corriere della Sera* newspaper, which highlights the projects created by Roman students as part of the RomeCup 2026, organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

Six schools in the capital took centre stage with solutions that combine artificial intelligence, robotics and social impact, demonstrating how technology can meet the practical needs of people and communities.

From healthcare to agriculture: innovation driven by needs

Among the projects highlighted:

  • Therapy management (Liceo Cannizzaro). A platform that helps patients, family members and healthcare professionals to correctly monitor medication intake. The system is based on field interviews and uses AI to organise information and support care.
  • Smart agriculture (Istituto Giorgi Woolf). Sensors in greenhouses collect data on plants’ vital signs, which are compared with weather information to optimise water and energy consumption.
  • Promoting the local area (Fratelli Cervi, Corviale). Two interactive totems, ‘Matrona Giulia’ and ‘Chiocciolina’, recount local history and agricultural practices, directly involving students in the creation of content.

Technology and inclusion

Particular attention has been paid to the themes of accessibility and inclusion:

  • Ochoglass (Virginia Centurione Bracelli). Glasses and a cane fitted with sensors that detect obstacles and transmit audio alerts, designed to support visually impaired people.
  • 3D-printed robotic hand (Istituto Volta, Tivoli). A device for post-stroke rehabilitation, with future developments focused on integrating sensors and improving ergonomics.

Between the real and the virtual

Liceo Amaldi, meanwhile, explored the relationship between the physical and digital worlds, with experiments combining headsets, AI-generated content and interactive devices.

A snapshot of RomeCup
The article provides a very clear snapshot of RomeCup as a space for educational experimentation, where students and teachers work together on real-world problems, developing solutions that combine creativity, technical skills and a focus on social impact.

From health to the environment, from inclusion to the promotion of local areas, the projects tell the story of a generation that does not merely use technology, but attempts to design it in a conscious manner.

Education and innovation: a concrete link
The news confirms a central element of the RomeCup experience: innovation is not just a matter of tools, but of educational processes.

When students are given the opportunity to observe, analyse and design, technology becomes a language for interpreting reality and acting upon it. And it is precisely in this space, between school, research and business, that the skills needed to tackle the challenges of the present are built.
