Yesterday, the ceremony for the presentation of certificates of honour was held at the Quirinale
The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, yesterday presented certificates of honour to the new Alfieri della Repubblica at the Quirinale. Among the 29 young people awarded was Tommaso Caligari, 19, winner of the first edition of the HealthBot contest promoted as part of the Fattore J project, created by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Italia.
Tommaso was awarded the honour for demonstrating ‘concrete and active attention to people in need, helping them in a continuous, spontaneous and selfless manner’ (official statement from the Quirinale).
His commitment stems from his personal history: the difficulties experienced by his grandfather, who suffered from Parkinson's disease, prompted him to design a device for the early diagnosis of the disease, the Parkinson Detector, which he decided to make available free of charge. A gesture of profound generosity, combined with technical expertise and human sensitivity, which perfectly embodies the spirit of Fattore J: educating young people about empathy, health and social responsibility.
For the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Tommaso's appointment as Alfiere della Repubblica is a source of great pride and concrete testimony to the value of civic innovation and youth engagement [read the news item Tommaso Caligari appointed Alfiere della Repubblica].
