Solidarity

Solidarity is among the founding ingredients of the Education for Life model developed by the scientific director, Alfonso Molina, from which all the programmes of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale are based. Certainly one of the main values for responsible citizenship, which together with curricular knowledge, transversal competences and hard skills contributes to a person's education and training throughout life.

From the experience of the 'Grandparents on the Internet' programme came the 'Network of Knowledge Volunteers' and the related competition, aimed at recognising the value of the best experiences in digital volunteering activities for the elderly in schools or at meeting places for the elderly. To date, the area of solidarity has become a transversal axis of intervention in all initiatives of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale: students in I-tutor version are not only at the side of the elderly, but also of migrants to accelerate the process of functional literacy and social inclusion. Company experts make their time and skills available to young people and the most fragile workers seeking retraining: this is the case, for example, with Microsoft's Give Campaign or the mentoring sessions offered by Google Cloud, Intesa Sanpaolo and Noovle to students in the Roll Cloud project. And again, the solidarity of the young people of the Insieme si Riparte programme, in the front line to promote access to the new health services for all citizens and improve the digital skills of population groups at risk of exclusion.

And the network of those who decide to invest in the free exchange of knowledge, promoting active lifestyles, job opportunities and social participation is growing all the time... more than 40,000 knowledge volunteers have got involved so far, from 19 Italian regions and 11 European countries.
