Three immersive experiences created by students at Avogadro High School in Turin
Thanks to the ‘Headset donation programme’ promoted by Meta, which involves the donation of Meta Quest 2 headsets on loan for use to Italian schools and institutions, students at the IIS A. Avogadro in Turin have created three original projects, designed and implemented independently as part of their school curriculum.
Classes 4D and 5C of the IT course, also involved in the ‘Scuola in prima fila’ (School in the Front Row) project in collaboration with the National Cinema Museum in Turin, stood out for their commitment to experimenting with new visual languages and immersive technologies. Guided by teachers Alfonso Carlone, Marzia Buscemi and Andrea Valente, and with the support of tutor Stefano Sburlati, the students followed a training course on 360° filming techniques, aimed at creating virtual reality content.
The three projects, which can be viewed with Meta Quest VR headsets, address issues central to active citizenship and educational communication:
- Cyberscape
An immersive experience dedicated to the theme of inclusivity, reflecting on relationships, languages and behaviours in the digital context.
La sosta
A virtual reality story on the theme of safety, to stimulate greater awareness of responsible behaviour among peers.
- Avogadro Virtual Tour
A virtual tour of the school, designed to guide students and families through an immersive and interactive narrative of the school's spaces.
This experience demonstrates how technology can enhance the creativity, collaborative work and social responsibility of the younger generation, thanks also to the synergy between schools, cultural institutions and innovation programmes promoted by organisations such as Meta and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, which are already partners of the school in various educational projects.
The teachers involved will be present at the next Coding Girls hackathon, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 15 May, in Turin, which will be a useful opportunity to learn more about the protagonists and creative processes that have made this experience possible.
