In Rome, the protagonists of the Smile project meet businesses
On Tuesday 11 June at 5 p.m., at Binario F (Via Marsala 29H, Rome), the final event of the Smile project will take place. SMile stands for SMart Innovative Learning for Employment and is promoted by Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS, IFOA and METID Learning Innovation, and selected by the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale - Impresa sociale (Fund for the Digital Republic - Social Enterprise).
The meeting, entitled “Digital connections for work”, brings companies and professionals into direct contact with 200 participants who have completed an innovative 120-hour training course on digital and soft skills. The event format alternates between advanced training sessions on artificial intelligence, elevator pitches by candidates, and dynamic interviews inspired by speed dating, also in an immersive version in the metaverse.
Highlights include:
- A presentation on AI and the jobs of the future by the Politecnico di Milano;
- Informal and professional meetings with companies, SMEs and third sector organisations;
- Immersive simulations for remote interviews in innovative digital environments.
The project involved unemployed people aged between 34 and 50 living in five regions (Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Piedmont, Lombardy and Tuscany), with the aim of increasing their digital skills and promoting their reintegration into the labour market. SMILE stands out for its innovative teaching approach, based on the Smart Learning Design™ methodology of the Politecnico di Milano, and for the creation of a real learning community.

The project was selected and supported by the Digital Republic Fund - Social Enterprise. The Digital Republic Fund was created through a partnership between the public and private social sectors (the government and the Association of Foundations and Savings Banks - Acri) and, on an experimental basis for the years 2022-2026, will allocate a total of approximately €350 million. It is funded by payments made by banking foundations. The aim is to increase digital skills and develop the country's digital transition. In order to implement the Fund's programmes, which are in line with the digitisation objectives set out in the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and the FNC (National Complementary Fund), the Digital Republic Fund - Social Enterprise, a non-profit organisation wholly owned by Acri, was established in May 2022.
