Igniting teacher and parent confidence and competency levels in delivering quality Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
SPARK – Igniting the confidence and capacity of school leaders, teachers and parents in providing quality Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) – is a European cooperation partnership in school education funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
The project addresses a critical need: strengthening the confidence and skills of school communities - school leaders, teachers, and parents - in delivering and supporting high-quality Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for children and young people.
By co-designing innovative training pathways and applying the European approach to micro-credentials, SPARK aims to ensure lasting impact and the widespread adoption of quality CSE practices across five European countries: Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Cyprus, and Italy.
Objectives
The overall goal of SPARK is to develop and implement high-quality training programmes that maximise the potential of Comprehensive Sexuality Education by enhancing the confidence, awareness, and competencies of teachers, school leaders, and parents.
Key activities include:
- Exchanging expertise and best practices among the eight partner organisations.
- Conducting national needs assessments (interviews and focus groups) in all partner countries to inform training design.
- Creating a European CSE resource bank for schools and educators.
- Developing and delivering three training modules, two micro-credential courses, and a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).
- Disseminating project outcomes through a dedicated website, articles, and an online transnational conference.
Target Groups
SPARK focuses on empowering the entire school community to support and sustain quality CSE.
Direct target groups:
- School leaders (approx. 500 participants)
- In-service teachers (approx. 650 participants)
- Pre-service teachers (approx. 500 participants)
