Digital support centres to help parents with online applications
Roma Capitale is expanding its support for families for the new school year, significantly increasing the value of book vouchers for secondary school and vocational training students with an ISEE of up to €15,493.71.
The amounts rise from £173 to £200 for first year secondary school classes, first and third year secondary school classes and vocational training courses (band 1), and from £150 to £170 for second year secondary school classes, second, fourth and fifth year secondary school classes and vocational training courses (band 2). The vouchers can be used for paper and digital books, dictionaries, fiction (including in foreign languages), software, devices and school materials such as printers, notebooks and tablets.
Digital facilitation centres at the forefront
An important new development concerns assistance in completing applications. In addition to the municipal public relations offices and the Migrant Schools Network, this year families can also contact the Digital Facilitation Centres of Roma Capitale, help desks set up to support citizens in using online services. Here, you can get practical help accessing the platform, filling in the application correctly and submitting it on time.
The vouchers will still be issued at the beginning of the school year, allowing families to buy books immediately in participating shops without having to pay in advance. Access is also provided for students in vulnerable situations or with housing difficulties, even if they do not have a registered residence or ISEE certificate.
The vouchers, in PDF format, can be used at participating bookshops. The public notice for applications is already available online on the Department of Education, Employment and Vocational Training page.
‘Every child has the right to start out with the same opportunities, and it is our job to remove any barriers, including economic ones, that prevent the full exercise of a fundamental right such as the right to education,’ said Claudia Pratelli, Councillor for Education, Training and Employment.
‘This is an important part of our inclusion policies and a measure on which we have worked hard in recent years to make it more effective, widely used and extended. To date, Roma Capitale provides support to more than 46,000 students: a significant figure that drives us not only to make the voucher more generous, but also to do even better in communicating this opportunity widely.’
