International publications dedicated to Linguist Tullio De Mauro (Torre Annunziata, 1932 - Rome, 2017) continue to be published. There are both studies that pursue his work and new translations of his works.

Today, we would like to point out Les mots des jours lointains, suivi de Les mots des jours un peu moins lointains. Translated from Italian by Pierre Escudé, Limoges, Lambert – Lucas, 2020. This is a French translation of the two volumes by Tullio De Mauro originally entitled Parole di giorni lontani and Parole di giorni un po’ meno lontani, published by “Il Mulino.”

We like this new publication that arrived in Rome as discussion raged on how to hold the state “maturità” exams during the health emergency. In fact, we opened up our Social Report with this passage:

The oral exams went extremely smoothly. [...] My last exams were Latin and Greek with Professor Marchi. They were long and meticulous. At the end, Prof. Marchi asked me what I planned to do. I told him that, one way or another, I wanted to teach. I was inspired by Mario Themelly and some other high school professors. However, I even remembered the sister who taught me in first grade, Suor Rosa, Prof. and Nuccia Musatti. It looked like the best job in the world.

We were inspired by Silvana Ferreri’s reading at the Campidoglio during the final event of the Global Junior Challenge... [see news: De Mauro to Students].
