Creating Fashion

Due to the prolonged health emergency, the beginning of the Digital Tailoring Course has been delayed to Monday, October 26.  The new course, promoted by 3DiTALY Roma in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, is a complete course for modellers, fashion designers, aspiring stylists and tailors following the workflow of a modern tailor shop.

Participants will learn to produce handmade and CAD paper models, learning a new method to produce clothes without the need of external resources.

The course, which will begin on October 26, is divided into two parts and includes various modules (traditional and digital paper modelling, 3D scanning, 3D printing of accessories, laser-cutting textile, machine-sewing, etc.).

The first 12-hour part will be held at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, where students will choose a specific area to focus on. This part can be integrated with free access to the creative lab. The second part will last 30 hours and address digital manufacturing techniques at 3DiTALY Roma.

Participants will produce a real item of clothing, following the process from the paper model to the final item, using the following tools: paper, scissors, tape measure, pencil, set square (handmade paper model); CLO 3D software and computer (digital paper model); 3D scanner for the human body; 3D printer for buttons and accessories, laser cutter for textile; sewing machine.

Course participants will enter their items of clothing in the new edition of the "Digital Made. For Young Fashion Talents" Contest promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with Altaroma [Contest Call to be published shortly].
