Alessandro Ridolfi and Yari Volpe, young researchers who teach at the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Florence (Unifi DIEF), will be at RomeCup 2018 for the first time. The twelfth edition of the event, in fact, has attracted the attention of many university excellences that have developed original solutions for service robotics. In particular, the DIEF will present its projects and prototypes, developed through prestigious collaborations, in the showcase area.
Alessandro, a researcher at the Applied Mechanics Section, explains how the submarine “FeelHippo” Drone can face emergencies (earthquakes, floods and other natural calamities) and then presents the custom-tailored hand exoskeletons developed by Project Hold, in partnership with the Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi.
Yari, a mechanical design expert, gives us a preview of their top prototype: Oplà, an integrated system for scanning and the assisted design of 3D-printed “plaster casts” for paediatric use. The project was developed in collaboration with the renowned Meyer Paediatric Hospital in Florence.
