The final prize for Ask&Hack at Zoom Park in Turin
The project Ask&Hack – Ventu. Al ritmo del codice, senza barriere (Ask&Hack – Ventu. To the rhythm of code, without barriers) ended with a special experience dedicated to the winning group of the challenge held on 7 February: “I Giuliastici”, made up of students from the Andriano high school in Castelnuovo Don Bosco and Giulia Balla, a girl with Down syndrome from the AirDown association [see the news item Ask&Hack Ventu-ritmo: codice senza barriere].
The group won the title of “Best Project” thanks to the development of an inclusive app to help remember daily activities, such as packing a sports bag or going shopping.
The prize? A day at the Zoom di Torino wildlife park, among giraffes, butterflies and birds of prey. They were welcomed by Gaia Riscossa, zoo keeper and Hippo Energy representative, who guided the group on an immersive and personalised tour.
‘The day was very well organised by Zoom,’ wrote teacher Chiara Novello, who accompanied the children. "Gaia was able to create a great group, even among students who didn't know each other. The children fed the giraffes, watched the birds of prey demonstration and visited the butterfly and sloth greenhouse. They felt like real VIPs: exceptional treatment, dedicated explanations, reserved seats, no queuing. It was a wonderful experience that opened the students' minds and exposed them to very important realities outside of school."
This special day marks the end of the special edition of Ask&Hack, the format designed to break down barriers, mix creativity, technology and human relationships, and promote true and concrete inclusion.
