Open Space Returns

Starting today, Bari and Milan will be involved in two weeks of educational activities thanks to Open Space, the project selected by Con i Bambini as part of the Fund to contrast the educational poverty of minors. The courses, which will involve both teachers and students, aims to transform school, making it a local reference point for the suburbs of some Italian cities. The objective is to reduce school dropout rates through qualitative and inclusive education.

In Bari, the Polo Istituto Comprensivo B. Grimaldi - L. Lombardi, School directed by Giuseppina Pastore will be involved through May 17.

Together with Matteo Viscogliosi, Coordinator of the Rome FabLab and Coach at the FMD Phyrtual Innovation Gym, students in five first-grade classes and their teachers will participate in a lab with Fiammetta Castagnini [see news: Zoom In on Educational Poverty]. They will learn about digital storytelling with the stop motion technique, a fun and original way of producing a story and experimenting with didactic content. The animated objects will be produced with rapid prototyping devices: 3D printers, cutting plotters, Tinkercad and many more.

In Milan, Irene Caretti will host a CodingLab at the Polo Istituto Comprensivo Madre Teresa di Calcutta School directed by Carla Federica Gallotti. In this case, the course is reserved to students, the same ones who participated in the digital manufacturing labs with Matteo Viscogliosi [see news: Designing Change]. The IC De Andreis School and the Liceo Scientifico Donatelli-Pascal will also participate in a Coding Lab on May 17.

Our commitment to improve learning environments continues with 12 schools that we aim to transform into hubs for inclusive education and where students can design their future.
