In an unpublished conversation with our Scientific Director, Alfonso Molina, Personal Chair in Technology Strategy, linguist Tullio De Mauro urged us to “free ourselves from the use of the word school as a singular noun and start to think about something unitary. School is not a singular noun,” explained De Mauro, maybe to remind us about the ability to extract substantial issues from complexity. What is school were to become simple? Could we master De Mauro’s exercise and subtract the obvious to reach the true significance of school?
