It’s Italy’s turn with an event in Milan on May 28.
The Italian debut of the Stem Women Congress is approaching, following the Spanish edition in Madrid. The appointment is set for May 28 in the large experimental laboratory of Base Milano. “I am honoured to take the baton. Our city has over 300 thousand students (over 20% of Italian students study here) but only 32,000 young women in for STEM subjects,” explains Milan Councillor Alessia Cappello. “The course, which we aim to support, is still long and deserves to be accompanied with the best tools, such as the Stem Women Congress.”
The event is brought to Italy by Orange Media Group, an independent communication network, in collaboration with Women at Business, an innovative professional matching platform for women, and FMA Hub, an agency specializing in events.
The Fondazione Mondo Digitale, which Is also supporting the event, will be represented by Mirta Michilli (panel at 2.25pm), FMD Director General and Advisory Board member.
During the afternoon, students and recent graduates will provide orientation meetings, workshops, etc. And the Coding Girls will be present, too.
Developed for companies, institutions, schools, and organisations, the format was concieved in Barcelona in 2019 by the Stem Women Association. According to the SWC Annual Report 2023, if all girls aged 0 to 16 opted for a STEM career today, a 50% female presence in the sector would still not be achieved until 2050.
