Teacher's Aid

A system to help the sight-impaired to move around independently, an interactive communications project for the school community through vocal assistants. These are the last two projects developed by the Research and Development Group at the Liceo in Ceccano.

It’s a group of 15 young men and women, who may not inspire much trust … the eldest is sixteen! Can we entrust them with the school building security and safety systems? Or tools to help the disabled?

Today, as part of our review of winning projects, we return to the 2015 edition of the Global Junior Challenge and to Project Teacher's Aid – Students Helping Professors with New Technology developed at the Liceo Scientifico e Linguistico di Ceccano that won the GJC Award in the “Up to 18 Years Old” Category [see news: GJC2015 Winners].

The project was developed during school year 2013-14 in collaboration with the Sirio Cultural Association to help teachers to use Google Apps in school activities. The following year, the students obtained the prestigious award at the Global Junior Challenge. What has happened in the past five years? Is the project still alive? How did it develop?

Issue N. 2 of Bricks, edited by AICA and SIe-L, includes an article by Prof. Pietro Alviti, Deputy Principal of the school who reports on the state of the art of the project and the group’s new success cases.
