With Assifero and Fondazione Mondo Digitale to reduce the digital divide
The selection process for volunteers for the 2026 Universal Civil Service is now open. Assifero and Fondazione Mondo Digitale are participating with the project Equity 5.0. Technology, knowledge and participation against inequality. A 12-month programme will take place in Rome, at the headquarters in Via del Quadraro (headquarters code 207905), with eight places available. The project has a clear objective: to reduce the digital divide as a lever for strengthening rights, democratic participation, social cohesion and intergenerational solidarity, ensuring fair and secure access to the opportunities of the digital society, with particular attention to the most vulnerable people or those at risk of exclusion.
What volunteers will do
Volunteers will be involved in three main areas of intervention:
Digital inclusion and facilitation
- supporting citizens in accessing digital services (Spid, PagoPA, email, online services)
- supporting digital literacy courses
- local outreach and collaboration with schools, local authorities and community centres
- monitoring and data collection to improve the impact of activities
Digital education and guidance in STEM subjects
- Co-designing and supporting workshops on robotics, AI, coding and cybersecurity
- Tutoring activities in training courses
- Promoting female inclusion and empowerment in STEM
- Producing communication and storytelling content
Promotion of inclusive and innovative training
- Support for the management of the FMD Academy
- Use of immersive educational technologies and accessible tools
- Personalised tutoring to promote participant autonomy
- Monitoring of the fairness and effectiveness of training courses
The service involves 12 months of activity for a total of 1,145 hours, spread over 5 days a week, with the possibility of activities in the local area and, in part, also remotely.
Training and skills
Volunteers will follow:
- 32 hours of general training
- a course of specific training on digital education, management of the FMD Academy, open badges, micro-certifications, coding and robotics workshops, communication of inclusion projects and impact assessment
