"Thanks for the beautiful experience our students were able to enjoy at your school."

The last leg of the "Coding: Chain Reaction" school-work programme ended just a few hours ago at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym. Fourth grade teacher Cecilia wrote to Coach Valentina Gelsomini as soon as she was back at the Direzione Didattica Statale Ciampino II School.

What are primary school students doing on a school-work programme? Debora Cavallo, who organises labs in schools for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, explains it in a post.

The "Coding: Chain Reaction" school-work programme included four sessions for a total of 16 hours, involving 27 young women from the IIS Emanuela Loi School Nettuno (Rome), coordinated by Professor Elena Brachetti. The programme, which was held by Valentina Gelsomini, ended with a practical exercise to assess the knowledge and competences acquired by the students, who worked with a primary school class.

"For the last lesson, we involved a fourth-grade class. The students on the school-work programme, held a one-hour lesson for eight children at a time,” explains Valentina - a first pilot experience that will surely be replicated soon!
