Digital identity under attack

On 26 June, a Job Digital Lab webinar to learn how to recognise deepfakes, identity theft and online manipulation

Digital identity has become an increasingly important part of our daily lives. Photographs, videos, voice recordings, social media profiles, documents and personal information all help to shape our online presence, but they can also be collected, altered and misused.

As artificial intelligence and generative technologies evolve, the risks are growing: increasingly realistic synthetic content, deepfakes, identity theft, image and video manipulation, disinformation campaigns and attacks on personal and professional reputations. It is essential for citizens, workers, businesses and organisations to learn how to recognise the signs of potential abuse and adopt safer practices.

These issues are the focus of the webinar “Digital Identity: Protecting Yourself Against Deepfakes, Theft and Manipulation”, scheduled for Friday 26 June at 6.00 pm, as part of Job Digital Lab, the programme run by Fondazione Mondo Digitale and ING Italia to strengthen digital skills and support individuals and communities through the transformations in the world of work.

The session will provide an overview of the main threats related to digital identity and manipulated content. Participants will learn how synthetic content is created, the risks it poses to security and trust in information, and which tools to use to develop a more critical approach to online content.

The webinar also focuses in particular on protecting one’s online presence, managing personal data and best practices for reducing the risk of digital identity theft, in a context where online and offline life are increasingly intertwined.

Participation is free of charge, with online registration.
