Roll Cloud: classes working on cloud and AI

Over 300 students involved in the first training sessions with experts from Intesa Sanpaolo

The first online training sessions of the fifth edition of Roll Cloud. Working on the cloud, the project promoted as part of the Opening Future programme, a joint initiative by Google Cloud, Intesa Sanpaolo and TIM Enterprise, have begun.

The programme aims to introduce high school students to the topics of cloud computing and artificial intelligence through a course that integrates training, guidance, creative challenges and hackathons. An experience designed to develop digital skills, a spirit of collaboration and awareness of the role of technology in serving the common good.

Over 300 students involved in the first training sessions

Over 300 students from eight higher education institutions in Piedmont and Lazio have already taken part in the first activities, attending the first two sessions of the programme:

  • Cloud Roll Talk
  • A 90-minute interactive webinar dedicated to discovering the cloud and artificial intelligence, led by experts from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, with testimony from a business expert.
  • Roll Talk
  • A one-hour and 30-minute webinar led by experts from Intesa Sanpaolo, focusing on guidance, soft skills and transferable skills useful for the world of work.

During this first session, students met Alessia Patruno from Intesa Sanpaolo and Fabio Giovannini from Tim Enterprise, who shared their experiences, skills and professional perspectives related to technological innovation.

From training to creative challenge

In the upcoming sessions, students will be called upon to take part in a creative challenge, working in groups of up to four people on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, a theme revealed during the first webinar.

The teams will work independently to submit their project ideas to the Fondazione Mondo Digitale within 15 days of the online hackathon. The most deserving projects will be selected to participate in the regional hackathon Hack4SocialAI, a face-to-face creative challenge (location and date to be communicated to the classes), the details of which will be revealed on the day of the event.

Towards RomeCup 2026

Teams that stand out during Hack4SocialAI will go directly to RomeCup 2026, the national final challenge, where they will compete with university students, start-ups and young professionals for the brand new Social Impact Awards.

Training activities will continue throughout February and March, accompanying the teams step by step towards the final challenge.

Good luck, everyone!
