"Roma Futura"

“Rome is one of the major global centres in terms of education and research and the industrial side of it is mainly composed of companies that produce systems and provide services in the high technology sector. Its 16 universities (public and private, as well as an equal number of religious ones), the largest number of any European city, make it a unique global centre in terms of culture and provide highly qualified personnel to this productive system. Moreover, Sapienza University boasts the largest number of students at any university in Europe.”

The "Roma Futura" work group of the IT Director’s Club of Rome (CDTI) has published an open letter that aims to revamp storytelling about the city of Rome, which cannot be limited to its historical and touristic value.

“We ask that we focus on the future of Rome as a city of technology and knowledge where both humanities and technology and science can flourish, thanks to its universities, research centres and its productive system that can transform this wealth into products and services. Tourism must not be our only culture, but just one of the columns amongst others, supporting the balanced development of the city.”

“We want to build the Rome of the future based on knowledge, research and education, as well as excellency in enterprise. [...] We must transform Rome into an international hub that will attract talent, companies and knowledge.”

To undersign the “open letter” write to p.madotto@cdti.org (Coordinator of the “Roma Futura” workgroup).

The issues raised by the letter will be addressed in a meeting next Thursday (June 24) at 5:30: Roma Futura: Growing Up in the Third Millennium with a Rome of Innovation and Knowledge (Zoom).
