Digital licence for teachers

Digital licence for teachers

Second edition of the course: the calendar of events

For the current school year, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has developed a free course dedicated to teachers of all levels for the issuance of the Digital Licence (digital citizenship and artificial intelligence).

To accompany digital innovation in schools, we focus on the key role of teachers, placing them at the centre of the educational process and enabling them to become true experts in pedagogical, digital and organisational skills.

The programme helps teachers acquire the skills to design digital citizenship courses for students that can be integrated into the compulsory civic education hours required by Law 92/2019.

The initiative is inspired by the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Merit and the Agcom policy document (resolution no. 177/24/CONS) and offers a modular programme that integrates the European DigComp and DigCompEdu frameworks. Micro-certificates are awarded for each module and a final certification is provided.

The licence covers the topics of digital citizenship with a specific focus on Artificial Intelligence (as per the MIM guidelines), integrated across the modules of the entire course.

Structure of the free online training course (introductory module + 9 one-hour modules)

  • 8 January, 5-6 p.m.: “Introduction to the MIM guidelines on AI and digital civic education”
  • In-depth module on the ministerial guidelines relating to the use of artificial intelligence in schools and the teaching of civic education.
  • 12 January, 5-6 p.m.: “Me, the digital citizen”
  • How to understand and integrate the digital citizen dimension into teaching.
  • 14 January, 5-6 p.m.: “Fact checking and combating disinformation”
  • Guidelines for distinguishing true information from false information online.
  • 19 January, 5-6 p.m.: “Emerging technologies and critical thinking: the case of AI”
  • This module helps teachers understand what AI is and how it is portrayed in the media, guiding them to distinguish between facts and opinions in digital narratives.
  • 21 January, 5-6 p.m.: “Web reputation and security: managing your identity in the cloud”
  • The topic of digital identity and web reputation.
  • 28 January, 5-6 p.m.: “Online crime and hate: how to defend yourself”
  • This module addresses the topic of cybersecurity on a large scale, emphasising that every action taken on the web can have concrete repercussions in both the private and social spheres.
  • 30 January, 5-6 p.m.: “Digital formats produced with AI: recognising, verifying and protecting”
  • An overview of the main digital file formats - text, audio, video and images - in order to recognise them and understand their role in the context of artificial intelligence-based technologies.
  • 2 February, 5-6 p.m.: “Logic and problem solving to understand AI and its limitations”
  • Key concepts of logic and problem solving applied to artificial intelligence.
  • 4 February, 5-6 p.m.: ‘AI and bias: recognising and reducing bias’
  • The module guides teachers in exploring the issue of bias in AI, showing how biases in data can influence the functioning of systems and lead to incorrect or inaccurate results.
  • 9 February, 5-6 p.m.: ‘Digital strategies for creativity’
  • The module explores the potential of digital creativity within educational pathways, showing how technological tools can amplify students' expressiveness and active participation and enhance traditional teaching.

At the end of each module, teachers have access to teaching sheets, useful resources and insights to use in the classroom to effectively integrate the course into the curriculum.

All sessions can be followed live and accessed on demand directly on the FMD Academy platform.
