Distance Schooling

[...] Administrators of schools that have suspended didactic activities due to the health emergency may activate, for the entire period of suspension and in agreement with the school boards, distance didactic activities that take into account the specific needs of students with disabilities [...] [DCPM 25/02/2020].

The Tuttoscuola magazine  has calculated that the Coronavirus Emergency has led to the suspension of lessons in ca. 26,000 schools. “Nearly 4 million students are obliged to stay at home and are losing over 1 million hours of lessons.”

We will soon update you on various distance education initiatives fielded by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and its on-line resources. In the meantime, school administrators and teachers are receiving information [see also: Announcement for Teachers] on the first CS First educational session which had initially been scheduled to take place at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, but has now been transformed into a webinar to allow all interested parties to attend, notwithstanding the suspension of didactic activities in some areas due to the Coronavirus Emergency. The webinar will be held on Feb. 28 from 3-5 pm.

Dear Administrators and Teachers,

the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has organised a free webinar to introduce primary and first-degree secondary school teachers to the use of the Google CS First Platform. The webinar, which will be held on Friday, February 28 at 3 pm, will look at new custom-tailored and interesting ways to conduct didactic activities through coding languages.

Google CS First includes a wide range of transversal activities that all teachers can implement and personalise to provide alternative pedagogic solutions that respect the needs and diversities of all students. The platform allows users to experiment with collaborative learning methodologies thanks to virtual meeting spaces for teachers and students. Distance schooling can allow even the areas affected by the current health emergency to continue their didactic activities without leaving anyone behind!

We would like to extend a special thank you to Headmaster Alfonso D’Ambrosio at the Istituto comprensivo Lozzo Atestino, who, after having launched and organised “didactic solidarity” activities for the quarantined areas, has endorsed this initiative both in his educational community and on-line.

Please register here for the free webinar.
