The FMD at Milan Digital Week
For the fourth consecutive year, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale is participating in Milan Digital Week (1-5 October 2025), an event promoted by the Municipality of Milan and dedicated to digital development and innovation for citizens and businesses, focusing on the theme “Including transformation. Artificial intelligence, data and skills for a sustainable society”. There are six online and in-person events designed for students, teachers and citizens. Webinars, role modelling experiences and creative challenges offer practical training to introduce young people to the critical use of emerging technologies, support innovation in teaching and improve citizens' digital skills.
Wednesday 1 October kicks off with a webinar aimed at primary and secondary school teachers, exploring how to integrate artificial intelligence into lessons: “Teaching and AI: tools for creating, evaluating and engaging”, as part of the Ital.IA Lab for School, project, created with Microsoft Italia. Teachers will learn how to transform texts into quizzes, generate personalised rubrics and tell stories with AI. At the end of the webinar, a micro-certification and ready-to-use classroom materials will be issued.
Thursday 2 October at 9.30 a.m., at IIS Schiaparelli-Gramsci, there will be a meeting entitled “From dream to tech career. Samuele's journey”. Samuele Sciacca, a young developer and founder of the start-up Dinobros, will share with students his experience in the world of video games as an educational and professional tool. In collaboration with ING Italia, “Gamindo” will also be presented, a video game that educates young people about cybersecurity in a fun and practical way. This will be followed at 11:30 a.m. by the fifth edition of Rising Youth, an online event open to all Italian secondary schools participating in the programme. Together with experts from SAP Italia, students will tackle the major digital transformations currently underway: from sustainability to generative AI, via agile business transformation.
In the afternoon, at 2.30 p.m., the appointment is at the Severi-Correnti institute for a training session of the international programme Experience AI, developed by Google DeepMind and Raspberry Pi Foundation with the support of Google.org. The meeting is dedicated to teachers and offers the opportunity to explore ready-to-use teaching resources for introducing artificial intelligence into lessons. With simulations and practical activities, teachers can design training courses to be taken straight into the classroom. At 4 p.m., at the Meet Digital Culture Centre, there will be a workshop on the REMID@. Making Milan Inclusive and Digital initiative. Promoted by the Municipality of Milan with the support of the Fondazione di Comunità Milano, the initiative is aimed at a group of citizens over the age of 65 for a practical session on online safety and the prevention of digital scams, with a view to promoting digital education practices.
The week ends on Friday 3 October, at the Casa di Quartiere Lessona, with the CyberGuardians hackathon as part of the Breaking Barriers project, supported by Google.org. The challenge involves high school students from Milan in a challenge using Open Source Intelligence (Osint) techniques to analyse online content and develop concrete strategies to combat cyberbullying. Representatives from the State Police and local institutions will also participate in an open and constructive discussion.
