The third National STEM Week is also underway
The week from 2 to 8 February marks a particularly significant milestone for the activities of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, as it coincides with the start of the 3rd National STEM Week, established by Law No. 187 of 2023 to promote the role of scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical skills in educational programmes for all ages.
In this context, the weekly calendar clearly reflects the intensity and continuity of the Foundation's commitment to education in the scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical disciplines, with a constant focus on inclusion, gender and the quality of educational contexts. The planned activities involve primary and secondary schools, universities, trainers and experts, alternating between face-to-face meetings, training webinars and structured support programmes.
Once again this week, the Coding Girls & Women programme plays a central role, fitting perfectly into the National STEM Week schedule with initiatives in Rome and Milan aimed at students of different age groups. The meetings are not only opportunities for technical learning, but also for experimentation, storytelling and feedback on the courses taken, as in the case of the final events, which are designed to be participatory workshops.
The collaboration with Rizzoli Education gets underway with the first webinar scheduled for Tuesday 3 February at 6 p.m. The meeting, entitled 'From the page to the data. Exploring texts with artificial intelligence' is dedicated to exploring the potential of AI in text analysis and teaching and learning processes. The one-hour webinar will feature Francesca Sabbatini and Felicia Bitetti and marks the start of a shared journey that brings together educational innovation, educational research and publishing.

Alongside activities dedicated to schools, courses on digital citizenship, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and job skills will also continue, confirming an integrated vision that links technological literacy, critical awareness and human capital development.
Training activities for two cooperation projects in Mozambique are beginning: Digital Embrace (session for incubator technicians) and ICT Employment Generation (Train the trainers).
The week also hosts moments of public reflection on the relationship between innovation, territories and the future of cities. In particular, on Monday 2 February, at the Municipio VII in Rome, there will be a presentation of the book by Riccardo Corbucci Smart Roma. Storie di innovazione, persone e città (Giulio Perrone Editore, 2025). This will be an opportunity for open discussion on how to prepare urban communities for change through education, skills and participation [see the news item A city preparing for the future].
Taken together, the week's events contribute to reinforcing the idea of STEM not as a separate specialist field, but as a cross-cutting cultural infrastructure that is fundamental to the growth of individuals, educational communities and the country.
